To thoroughly implement the concept of national security and improve the fire safety awareness and emergency response capability of campus logistics staff, the Zhangjiang Institute for Advanced Study (ZIAS) Operations and Maintenance Office, in collaboration with the Zhangjiang Security Department, organized a comprehensive fire safety training session for all logistics personnel on April 15, marking the 10th National Security Education Day. The training aimed to reinforce the safety defenses of laboratory buildings and provide a safe, stable research environment for faculty and students.
Promoting Fire Safety Awareness
Instructors from the Zhangjiang Fire Rescue Station delivered a detailed fire safety lecture for all campus logistics personnel. The lecture systematically covered causes and types of fires, preventive measures, emergency responses, and evacuation skills.
Using case studies and visual aids, the instructors vividly demonstrated the dangers of fire and the importance of prevention and control, further enhancing participants' safety awareness and emergency capabilities. As the first line of safety defense, improving the fire safety knowledge of logistics personnel is essential for ensuring safe laboratory operations and a stable research order.
Hands-On Drills to Strengthen Emergency Skills
After the theoretical session, firefighters demonstrated the correct use of fire extinguishers. Participants then took part in hands-on training under professional guidance, learning and practicing the full procedures and precautions for using fire extinguishers.
This practical session helped deepen participants’ understanding of fire equipment and their operational skills, significantly improving the campus’s response efficiency and capability to handle sudden fire incidents, thus laying a solid foundation for safety in high-density lab environments.
Safeguarding Research Through Safety Training
This fire safety training not only disseminated essential safety knowledge but also effectively improved practical emergency response capabilities. As the number of laboratories and campus occupants at ZIAS continues to grow, the safety demands on lab buildings have increased. This training reflects the logistics team’s proactive response to the institute’s development needs and continuous efforts to enhance safety management. ZIAS will continue implementing safety responsibilities, regularly conduct safety education activities, and strengthen campus safety infrastructure to fully ensure the safety of the research environment and support the high-quality development of scientific work.
